This is Saffy. She was just over 8 years old when her owner's circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for her. They approached the Great Dane Adoption Society for help and of course it was immediately offered. A few days later in August 2008 I collected this lovely dog from her home in the North of England. After an overnight stay with us I took her to a foster home in South Wales. Just a week later, Joy found her a lovely new home where she'll hopefully see out the rest of her days surrounded by admirers and in comfort! |
Sasha is a puppy aged 4 months or so whose owner wasn't able to take her with them when they had to urgently move to new accommodation. Having collected her as an emergency, we had the pleasure of her company for three days until I was able to transport her to the Sanctuary. She's a really wonderful young dog who, after a week working her charm on Joy at the Sanctuary went off with her new family on 25 October 2008. I'm sure Sasha will especially love playing and growing up with the children!! |

Musho, the Fawn dog pictured here with our foster Lexy, spent a short time at the GDAS Sanctuary after he was surrendered by his Eastern European owners. Although it didn't take long for joy to identify a prospective new home for him, it was essential that all members of the family met him before they could adopt him. It was very difficult however for the whole family, who live in the northwest of England, to take time off together to visit the Sanctuary in Boston, Lincolnshire . No problem. He came to me for a night or two in early February 2009 before I took him to meet them during a rare and short period when the entire family were all together. Happily it all went well. They loved Musho & he got on well with them. He's now the centre of attention in the Pub they run. (and he's got a nice new name too!!)

Cujo belonged to a very young couple who had little or no experience of a giant breed when they bought him as a puppy. Sadly they found it difficult to manage him and a baby, so asked for help in rehoming him. I collected him from the owners and kept him overnight before transporting him to the Great Dane Adoption Society Sanctuary in Lincolnshire. In the short time I had him, he appeared to be a wonderful young dog that simply needed some time and attention - as well as a knowledgeable owner. He was soon rehomed to a lovely couple with a lot of Great Dane experience who have been able to progress well with his training. |
